Toma estos polvitos. Por aquí hay un atajo. Si quieres puedes. Si no lo has aprendido no es culpa tuya es porque no te lo han enseñado bien... Ataque tras ataque publicitario sobre cómo saltarse etapas del aprendizaje y la progresión en la vida. Pero esta vez el ofrecimiento parece que es real. Esta vez el ofrecimiento concuerda con la recompensa Puede que pruebe esta vez...

Dice el filósofo que uno nunca puede bañarse en un río dos veces, pero los protagonistas de este libro convierten este axioma en la búsqueda de una quimera con un resultado sorprendente.

Novela divertida y dinámica de las que se leen en una sentada no sólo por la extensión si no por el ritmo al que transcurre y lo adictivo de lo que nos cuenta. Narrada con un esquema muy concreto con capítulos cortos que comienzan con el diálogo entre el Detective MacDonald y Adam, un joven acusado de la desaparición de su novia y sus amigos, para a continuación ir dando paso a la narración de Adam.

Una investigación policial, una extraña secta, drogas psicodélicas... y un final espectacular en el que el autor gira hacia el terror cósmico y nos deja un final que seguro provoca diferentes interpretaciones entre cada lector ¿os parece una receta lo bastante atrayente?

Maybe I'll try this time...

The philosopher says that you can never bathe in a river twice, but the protagonists of this book turn this axiom into the search for a chimera with a surprising result.

A fun and dynamic novella that can be read in one sitting not only because of the length but also because of the pace at which it passes and the addictive nature of what it tells us. Told with a very specific outline with short chapters that begin with the dialogue between Detective MacDonald and Adam, a young man accused of the disappearance of his girlfriend and her friends, and then give way to Adam's narration.

A police investigation, a strange cult, psychedelic drugs... and a spectacular ending in which the author turns towards cosmic terror and leaves us with an ending that will surely provoke different interpretations among each reader. Does this seem like an attractive enough recipe to you?

Vuelvo a casa de mi abuela Soledad. Ella hace ya mucho tiempo que arrastra una salud delicada. Por una extraña razón llevo meses ¿años? sin visitarla. No lo entiendo. Una sensación muy extraña me invade ya que suelo ir a verla todas las semanas. Me recibe con los brazos abiertos. Me abraza muy fuerte, tan fuerte que me ahoga, no puedo respirar. A pesar de su fragilidad no puedo deshacerme de su abrazo. Poco a poco voy perdiendo la conciencia...

De repente me despierto. Estoy desorientado. Mi abuela falleció hace quince años. Con frecuencia había tenido ese sueño pero siempre conversaba tranquilamente con ella. Esta vez el final era diferente. Cojo el móvil, me encuentro un mensaje: 

            «la casa de la abuela ha sido vendida... el propietario ha aceptado la oferta»

Hay que parar la venta...

En primer lugar me gustaría agredecer a Book Sirens (@booksirens) por hacerme llegar esta ARC para realizar la reseña.

Vampirismo y casas encantadas son mis temas favoritos. Mientras que en el primero de los géneros los autores suelen estar más acertados a la hora de buscar temáticas diversas, en el caso de la infestación los lugares comunes son demasiado frecuentes, y valga la redundancia, demasiado comunes. Es difícil escapar del canon que estableció Richard Matheson con "La casa infernal" y los casos en los que se abandona ese molde son dignos de celebrar.

Como siempre no os quiero desvelar nada sobre la historia, de hecho la escritora va a jugar mucho con eso durante la narración, pero sí que quiero destacar el enfoque filosofico (¿podría llegar a clasificarse de distopía?, no sé, no tengo las suficientes referencias sobre la categoría) que la autora Ai Jiang nos ofrece. Un relato de herencia totalmente gótica, escrito con una pluma totalmente hipnótica que presenta numerosas ideas y reflexiones sobre los estratos sociales, el duelo, la inmigración... en definitiva la vida pero en una forma de abordar esos temas más propios de una escritora de hard sci-fi que de un relato de terror (de ahí mi planteamiento de etiquetarla de distopía).

Linghun es uno de esos libros donde te va a atrapar la historia, pero que cada cierre de capítulo te va a dejar pensando sobre los temas que plantea y sobre muchos de los enigmas que nos va planteando.

En definitiva, una obra muy recomendable para cualquier amante de la literatura gótica y una autora a seguir porque nos va a dar muchas alegrías.

A very strange feeling invades me since I usually go to see her every week. He welcomes me with open arms. He hugs me very tight, so tight that it suffocates me, I can't breathe. Despite its fragility I cannot get rid of its embrace. Little by little I'm losing consciousness...

Suddenly I wake up. I am disoriented. My grandmother passed away fifteen years ago. He had often had that dream but he always talked calmly with her. This time the ending was different. I pick up my phone, I find a message:

            «Grandma's house has already been sold... the owner has accepted the offer»

We have to stop the sale...

Vampirism and haunted houses are my favorite topics. While in the first of the genres the authors are usually more successful when looking for diverse themes, in the case of the infestation the common places are too frequent, and worth the redundancy, too common. It is difficult to escape the canon that Richard Matheson established with "Hell House" and the cases in which that mold is abandoned are worth celebrating.

As always, I don't want to reveal anything about the story, in fact the writer is going to play with it a lot during the narration, but I do want to highlight the philosophical approach (could it be classified as a dystopia? I don't know, I don't have enough references about the category) that the author Ai Jiang offers us. A story of totally gothic heritage, written with a totally hypnotic pen that presents numerous ideas and reflections on social strata, grief, immigration... in short, life in the world but in a way of addressing those topics more typical of a writer. more of a hard sci-fi than a horror story (hence my approach of labeling it a dystopia).

Linghun is one of those books where the story will captivate you, but each chapter closing will leave you thinking about the issues it raises and many of the enigmas it poses to us.

In short, a highly recommended work for any lover of Gothic literature and an author to follow because it will give us a lot of joy.
